Of circular form with foliate rim and deep sides, decorated in bright shades of underglaze blue, painted to the centre with a scene of a scholar seated on a rock beside a late, a lotus in bloom nearby, the cavetto with four wide quatrefoil cartouches, each enclosing a floral sprig, the flattened rim with four panels containing further blooms alternating with tasselled ruyi and wan characters, the reverse with four further freely sketched panels, the base glazed.
