Signed Mitsujoshi, the rounded square-sectioned body with open filigree work of scrolling branches, two inset gold lacquer panels on either side of the vase, inlaid in Shibayama style in mother-of-pearl, tortoiseshell and coral, one panel with a peacock perching on a ribbon suspended from the top and among fine flowering branches, the other panel with a white dragon wrapped around a trumpet-shaped vase holding chrysanthemum and other flowers, placed on a low table, a small teapot next to it on the ground, the narrow sides of the body with applied dragon handles and bands with coloured cloisonné enamels, the everted square neck with further coloured cloisonné decoration, the domed foot with four lappet feet again detailed in cloisonné enamels.
